Every year, thousands of street-involved youth struggle to survive in Toronto. Street-involved youth have a 13% higher mortality rate than other youth and often live with chronic physical and mental health issues. Poverty, abuse and homelessness can seem like insurmountable barriers. Many fall through the cracks in our community, unseen and forgotten.
YOUTHLINK’s Inner City programs offer basic support, access to health care, and opportunities to build employment and life skills. By treating these youth with respect and dignity, we help them not only survive, but thrive. Last year over 1,100 young people took part in these programs, which are recognized internationally for their innovative approach. Today, street-involved youth need these programs more than ever.
