Director, Clinical Services & Live-in Treatment

(Temporary Contract, Full-time, 35 hours/week)

(1 Year Contract, Starting April 2026)

(Non-Bargaining Unit Position)

The Director of Clinical Services and Live-In Treatment, in collaboration with the senior leadership team, is responsible for setting the strategic direction and service delivery for YouthLink’s clinical community-based programs and l live-in treatment home. Reporting to the ED, and as part of the senior leadership team, this role provides executive leadership to YouthLink in service of the mission. The incumbent provides direct supervision of Senior Manager Clinical Operations, and Senior Manager Clinical Services, while providing ad hoc clinical supervision to clinicians as needed. The Director provides leadership in the implementation of Ministry of Health, MCCSS and Lead Agency’s Core Service Providers’ directives to ensure that standards, licensure and funder targets are met.

This includes actively setting the tone for the culture of the organization and centering YouthLink values and approach in all decision making. Based in Scarborough, this position must be deeply competent in, and committed to, promoting equity and Black excellence in everything YouthLink does.

As an executive leader at YouthLink, this position requires the highest level of character and strong judgement to navigate complex organizational situations.

Programs and Services reporting up to this role: Clinical services and Live-In Treatment Program.

Highlights of Your Role

Strategic Planning and Implementation:

  • In partnership with the leadership team, and reporting to the ED, builds effective strategies to fulfill the mission and manages all aspects of successful implementation.
  • Conducts regular environmental scans to assess community need, effectiveness of service delivery on the ground, emerging issues. In collaboration with ED, builds partnerships with relevant government ministries, CMHO and partner organizations to build the agency and ensure that YouthLink is well represented in the community.
  • Actively contributes to the organization’s Strategic Plan by participating in initiatives and committees to support the overall plan. 

Thought leadership:

  • Remains abreast of latest practice and emerging trends in clinical theory and practice, programs and service delivery.
  • Embraces research, innovation, and shares learnings from YouthLink to advance sector-wide understanding of the issues and effective interventions.

Program and Service Development:

  • Oversees the programs, managers and staff, ensuring quality, best practices and effective service.
  • Oversees program direction and integration, new endeavours and partnerships, program evaluation and feedback loop.
  • Works in collaboration with managers, fellow Directors and outside partners to oversee the development and delivery of exceptional, collaborative, evidence-based or innovative program and service delivery to the community.
  • Ensures programming adheres to parameters outlined by CHMO, MOH, MCCSS, UWGT and other funders and partners on a routine basis.
  • With ED feedback, integrate program needs into overall agency direction.

Risk Assessment and Regulatory Compliance:

  • Continually identifies and manages organizational risk and opportunities related to portfolio, developing and implementing risk mitigation plans accordingly..
  • Ensures full compliance with Canadian Centre for Accreditation, MCCSS Licensing for Live-In Treatment as well as CRPO, OCSWSSW for all registered/licensed Psychotherapists and all other regulatory standards.
  • In partnership with Senior Director of Human Resources, leads in troubleshooting of serious staff concerns or client issues.

Staffing, Policy and System Development:

  • Provides supervisory responsibility for senior managers: provides regular management supervision.
  • Provides ad-hoc clinical supervision to clinical staff in the department as needed.
  • Ensures strong policy, HR guidelines and supporting documentation and processes are in place to support the delivery of exceptional programming.
  • Informs programs of relevant policies and procedures and ensures that program issues follow proper procedures.
  • Takes all reasonable and necessary precautions to protect their own health and safety and that of co-workers by complying and demonstrating knowledge of the policies, procedures and safe practices established by YouthLink.

Equity, Diversity and Belonging:

  • Maintains best practices as it relates to Equity, Diversity and Belonging and organizational development. 
  • Works collaboratively with Black Leadership Committee and Director of Anti-Racism, Equity and Belonging to embed best practices into all programs, operational goals and processes. 

Key Performance Indicators and Outcome Reporting Management:

  • Works within the expectations of funder and partner requirements.
  • Ensures KPIs are effective and established for every area.
  • Ensures timely and accurate reporting on progress.
  • Provides mitigation and corrective actions when targets are no longer aligned.
  • Within the YouthLink clinical portfolio, develops and oversees relevant evaluation processes that fit with YouthLink’s mission, values and priorities.

Finance and Resource Development:

In consultation with Director of Finance & Administration and Senior Manager of Finance, the incumbent will have portfolio financial responsibility:

  • Maintains on-going updates with the Finance team on a regular basis.
  • Collaborates with appropriate managers to make strategic plans to enhance resources in the clinical and live-in treatment areas.
  • Collaborates with Director of Finance to ensure the facility lead completes capital projects, ensuring maintenance is kept up and followed through on.

Highlights of What You Bring

Education: 

  • Master’s degree in a field related to providing Psychotherapy.
  • Licensure/registration in a regulated health college which permits the delivery of the Act of Psychotherapy.
  • Clinical Supervisory designation specific to providing the controlled act of psychotherapy for individual and family therapy supervision.
  • Coursework that demonstrates desire for continual learning in Equity, Diversity and Belonging practices.
  • Certification related to trauma assessment and treatment, including critical incident stress debriefing working from a trauma-informed lens.
  • Equity, diversity and inclusion training.
  • Specialized training in family therapy, intervention, skills and strategies.
  • Critical Incident Stress Debriefing (CISD) Training an asset
  • CPI

Experience: 

  • Minimum of seven (7) years of relevant management experience in youth services, mental health or related field.
  • Five (5) or more years providing Individual Psychotherapy and Family Therapy.
  • Five (5) or more years providing Clinical Supervision to Psychotherapists and Family Therapists.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing within a unionized environment. 
  • Demonstrated experience in implementing equity strategies in an organization.
  • Demonstrated experience in two or more of: human resource management, financial management, program management, evaluation design or systems design.

Knowledge/Skills:

  • Demonstrated skills in assessment, systemic formulation, individual psychotherapy, family therapy, group therapy, treatment planning and case coordination.
  • Knowledge of and commitment to evidence-based and evidence-informed psychotherapy practice.
  • Competence in best practice in the field of Psychotherapy, Family Therapy and Clinical Supervision.
  • Bilingualism is an asset.
  • Knowledge of the Scarborough community a strong asset.
  • Knowledge of current literature in the field of Psychotherapy and Family Therapy is an asset.
  • Ability to uphold and ensure the Clinical portfolio abides by all Regulated Health Colleges Code of Ethics is an asset. 
  • Displays clinical leadership skills gained through many years of progressive responsible clinical practice and clinical supervision is an asset.
  • Able to conceptualize and assess power and privilege, social location, equity and intersectionality is an asset.
  • Knowledge of youth developmental stages and positive youth development is an asset.
  • Able to assess and identify the impact of childhood and racial trauma in relation to youth development is an asset.
  • Understands family systems and social ecology of young people is an asset.
  • Ability to articulate one’s philosophy of Clinical Supervision is an asset.

Hours of work:

  • 35 hours per week per week

Physical Requirements:

  • This is a standard office job at head-office, the other site is a home environment. Basic physical requirements such as movement between office with occasional standing and mostly sitting. Travelling with phone, laptop computer and ergonomic stand is a regular daily requirement.

Other Requirements:

  • Broad Record Police Check required.
  • Typical office environment. Occasional travelling required. Participation in the Agency’s on-call rotation for 24/7 facilities.

Starting Salary: 120,510
