Fee for Service Contract – HANDYMAN
(Up to 30 hours/week Max.)

Non-Bargaining Unit Position
YouthLink is seeking a Handyman to provide services for all our properties and will align with contractors in the field of social change, local entrepreneurial spirit, environmentally sustainable practices, and who recognise that these blended values contribute to vibrant communities, economic growth and development of our community.
Your Role
Physically fit individual. Thrives in a fast-paced environment and works to complete tasks quickly and efficiently. Uses ticket system for general maintenance and repairs for 5 properties in Scarborough area. Consistently follows through with all work orders and instructions. Closes work orders in a timely manner. Performs minor and routine patching, painting, plumbing work, electrical, and other related maintenance activities or general repairs. Ensures room repairs and preparation is complete for new resident clients. Arranges to pick up or move stored materials and equipment from other sites to other properties or storage.
What You Bring
Requirements:
- Vulnerable Sector Police Check required.
- 1-2 years of experience with general labour work that includes routine patching dry wall, painting, plumbing, electrical, installing appliances, lifting and moving furniture/equipment etc.
- Have one’s own pickup truck is an asset.
Education and Experience:
- Trade certification or related is an asset.
- Driving large van or pickup truck.
- Construction, General Mechanics, General Labour.
- Lifting 50-60 lbs of furniture and equipment.
- Repair and assemble furniture.
- Use of power tools.
- Problem solving and ability to prioritize tasks.
- Safety conscious.
- Clean drivers abstract.
- Operating using Anti-Black racism.
- Experience with landscaping is an asset.
- Operates using a strong Anti-Black Racism lens is an asset.
- Proficient in French is an asset.
- Bilingualism is an asset.
Skills:
- Versatility and general knowledge about all manners of repairs and maintenance.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Committed to high quality workmanship and following safety codes and regulations.
- Teamwork and collaboration.
- Demonstrated skill in Equity, Diversity and Inclusion practices, and specifically using an Anti-Black Racism lens.
Work Hours: up to 30 working hours per week (Max). This position may require evening hours.
Fee for Service Rate: $25 per hour.
