Human Resources Generalist (Recruitment & Onboarding)

(Temporary full-time, 35 hours/week)

(1 YEAR CONTRACT)

(Non-Bargaining Unit position)

As the Human Resources Generalist (Recruitment & Onboarding), you will play a crucial role in attracting and selecting top-tier candidates to fulfill the talent needs of our agency. Your expertise in recruitment strategies, sourcing techniques, and candidate evaluation will contribute to building a skilled and diverse workforce that aligns with our organization’s goals and values.

This position is responsible for delivering targeted Human Resources services to dedicated programs and tasks including recruitment, new employee orientation, Human Resources Information System (H.R.I.S.), personnel records as well as additional administrative functions. 

Highlights of Your Role

Talent Acquisition and Management:

  • Conducts full cycle recruitment activities for full-time and contract employees in close co-ordination with line managers for dedicated programs.
  • Prepares internal and external job postings, reviews job applications and shortlists candidates for interviews, participates in selection interviews, conducts reference checks and prepares and completes appropriate paperwork for hiring of selected candidates.
  • Ensures that all recruitment / hiring processes and paperwork are in compliance with Agency’s policies and procedures.

Data Integrity and Reporting:

  • Updates and maintains the Agency’s Human Resources Information System, ADP WorkForceNow to ensure data is accurate, up to date and consistent with payroll records. 
  • Generates reports when required.
  • Ensures that employee personnel files are up-to-date and complete. Performs periodic audits of files as and when required.

Orientation and Onboarding:

  • Facilitates orientation sessions for new employees and casual employees;
  • Ensures all Police Reference Checks are completed and filed,
  • Enrolls new employees in required benefits, pension and training;
  • Follow up with managers to ensure that probationary and annual performance management forms for employees and Annual Employment / Volunteer / Placement Suitability Check Forms are completed on time.

Administrative:

  • Other human resources / labour relations tasks and projects as and when required.

Proactively stays updated on best practices as it relates Equity, Diversity and Belonging.  Works collaboratively with ABR Committee and Director of Anti-Racism, Equity, Inclusion and Community, to embed best practices into all operational goals and processes, and in particular, program and service metrics.

Actively contributes to the organization’s Strategic Plan by participating in initiatives and committees to support the overall plan.

Highlights of What You Bring

Education:

  • Undergraduate diploma/degree in Human Resources Management or equivalent combination of directly related qualifications and experience.
  • Working towards a CHRP designation a strong asset.
  • Coursework that demonstrates your desire for continual learning in Equity, Diversity and Belonging practices.

Experience:

  • 3 years’ experience in administrative function.
  • 2 years’ relevant experience in a general human resources role or specializing in recruitment/talent acquisition.
  • Sound working knowledge and understanding of relevant Employment Standards and Human Rights legislation.
  • Demonstrated experience in recruitment and selection.
  • Experience working with computerized Human Resources Information Systems a strong asset.
  • Working experience and knowledge of ADP’s WorkForceNow HRIS a strong asset.

Skills:

  • Demonstrated intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook).
  • Strong administrative and client service skills.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills, able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully and professional at all times.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Excellent organization, problem solving and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task, shift priorities, handle interruptions and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Attention to details and high level of accuracy
  • Demonstrated skill in Equity, Diversity and Inclusion practices, and specifically using an Anti-Black Racism lens.
  • Bilingualism is an asset.

Other:

  • Police Vulnerable Sector Check required.
  • Full COVID 19 Vaccination required.
