Interested in being part of a Board of Directors that is making a difference in the lives of youth in Scarborough? We’re seeking Board of Director nominations of people who share a passion for youth and are interested in serving ion this capacity for YouthLink.
YouthLink is a professional, innovative mental health agency based in Scarborough providing services that allow youth to thrive individually, and within their families and communities. We are a registered charity and a United Way Anchor agency. YouthLink is accredited through the Canadian Centre for Accreditation and Children’s Mental Health Ontario.
The Board of Directors comprises of up to 12 members and is a policy governance board. The Board is responsible for governing the organization that includes strategic planning, policy, financial oversight, and board self-management.

Your commitment:
- Three year term that may be renewed for a further three years, pending renewal and approval by the board
- The board of directors meets September through June on the last Thursday of each month from approximately 5:30 – 8:30pm
- Meeting locations are at the Kennedy office
- Committees of the board typically meet during business hours, once a month either in person or by teleconference, according to their respective work agendas
Board member \responsibilities:
- Actively participate in all matters of the board relating to good governance including strategic planning, financial oversight, policy setting, self-governance and oversight
- Attend all board meetings, AGM, and special events
- Assist in engaging the Scarborough community in YouthLink events
- Be committed to the work of YouthLink and knowledgeable about our services
- Be an advocate for the youth and families we serve
- Participate on a minimum of one board sub-committee
- Help to promote our special events, attend our signature fundraiser ‘BluesLink’, recommend sponsors, assist with ticket sales
- Work as a team member by supporting the Board and the Executive Director
Nominations for 2019/2020:
The Board of Directors requires nominees who have many of the following skills:
- Previous Board Experience in a Not-For-Profit
- Knowledge of Scarborough or the Scarborough Business Community
- Understanding of Diversity and Newcomer Issues
- Specialties in Either:
- Government Relations
- Finance
- Social Services / Mental Health
- Human Resources
- Diversity
