Around The World Cooking Experience
The Around The World Cooking Experience is a cooking group for youth between the ages of 18 and 21 who have intellectual disabilities. The group will be strengths-based and goal-focused. It will not only help youth who have intellectual disabilities learn to cook, it will also increase their appreciation for cultural diversity.
Participants will also:
- Increase their knowledge of healthy eating and kitchen safety
- Increase socialization and cultural knowledge
- Build cooking and teamwork skills
- Enhance independence
- Develop leadership skills.
This 10 week YouthLink program takes place at Grace Church, 700 Kennedy Road, beginning on Monday, September 17. Each week the program will focus on a menu from a specific country. Participants will not only learn how to cook a basic meal from that country, they’ll also learn cultural and geographical facts. The group experience promises to take us around the world, and will no doubt be the most cost effective means of world travel!
When: Monday evenings from 5:00 – 8:00pm.
Where: Grace Church, 700 Kennedy Road (just steps away from our main office at 636 Kennedy Road)
