YouthLink Diversion Program

YouthLink’s Diversion Program offers immediate, practical support to youth aged 16–24 who are facing housing instability or at risk of becoming homeless. Our goal is to help young people avoid entering the shelter system by providing guidance, resources, and alternatives that lead to safe and stable housing.

We understand how overwhelming a housing crisis can be. Whether you’re at risk of eviction, couch surfing, or temporarily without housing, our team is here to support you with compassion and care. We take a youth-centered, strengths-based approach, helping you navigate the challenges while building toward long-term stability.

If you or someone you know is experiencing a housing crisis, we are here to help. The Diversion Program is more than short-term support — it is a pathway to prevention, empowerment, and stability.

Program Overview

The Diversion Program focuses on early intervention to prevent youth homelessness before it starts. Our team works with young people to identify safe, realistic alternatives to entering the shelter system and helps them stay connected to their support networks.

Here is what we offer:

  • Guidance on housing options and eviction prevention
  • Connections to helpful resources
  • Support with food, clothing, and other essential needs
  • Assistance in finding employment, or exploring the education system.
  • Help with applying for financial aid and government benefits and much more.

Each youth works directly with a Diversion Support Worker to assess their situation and build a plan tailored to their goals and needs. Our approach is voluntary, confidential, and designed to empower youth toward stability.

Examples of housing crises we support:

  • Being evicted or at risk of eviction
  • Couch surfing or temporarily staying with friends/family
  • Recently discharged from care, justice, or hospital systems with no housing plan
  • Experiencing conflict at home that threatens safety or stability

Location:
747 Warden Ave. Scarborough ON, M1L 4A8
